Emergency exit lighting is required depending on the facility type and hours of operation. For instance, a hospital is open throughout the day but also at night which means they would require lighting for their emergency exit signs.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes. There are two types of tests to be run for your emergency/exit lights. First, a monthly activation. Second, is an annual load test.
The exit lights should always be illuminated. If there is a loss of power in your building, the emergency lighting and exit lights will be illuminated off of battery power. This is why it is so important to have these lights tested because this allows for a safe exit.
If you are hearing a buzzing sound in the emergency exit unit, it may be because the charging unit responsible for keeping the battery pack charged is damaged. This indicates a need for repair or replacement.
