Fire Hoses are part of the buildings fire sprinkler system and can deliver essential backup when trying to protect your building and employees. The NFPA sets forth very strict standards and guidelines when it comes to testing and maintaining your buildings' Fire Hose and nozzles. To ensure the hose is ready to assist in fighting a fire it is required to be serviced annually. In addition, every three years a Hose Pressure Service Test needs to be completed, with the first test taking place five years after the manufacture date.

Fire Hose Testing:
NFPA requires these hoses to be tested annually to ensure they are being maintained and in good working conditions.

The Makeup of a Fire Hose:
Believe it or not, Fire Hoses are not fire resistant. When manufacturing these hoses, it was more important to design something that could withstand high-pressure water and have the ability to not get kinked even though it was stored for long periods of time.  For that reason, Fire Hoses are typically made out of woven nylon fabrics and other types of rubber to provide that toughness but also the necessary flexibility.
